Why vaccinate?

Vaccinating your pets is important for their health as well as the health of the community. According to the Humane Society of the United States “To protect your pet from contagious diseases, keep his essential vaccinations up-to-date. This is important even if your pet is kept mostly indoors. Many contagious diseases are airborne and your pet could easily be exposed through an open window. There is also always a risk that your pet could accidentally slip out the door.

Why spay and neuter?

Spaying and neutering is one way you can reduce the number of homeless animals in the United States. In addition, fixing your pets improves their overall health–according to the Humane Society of the United States “It can be the single best decision you make for their long-term welfare.”  The Heard County Humane Society does not allow our animals to be adopted before being  spayed or neutered. However, if you have pets that aren’t fixed there are many affordable local resources.
